INDIANAPOLIS -Lukas Verzbicas has been named USA Track & Field's Athlete of the Week after winning the individual boy's title at the Nike Cross Nationals Saturday in Portland, Ore.

The 2009 Foot Locker Cross Country champion and a junior at Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Ill., Verzbicas covered the 5 km course in 15:59.2, edging New Jersey high school sophomore Edward Cheserek by two seconds. He will be back in action next Saturday when he looks to defend his title at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in San Diego.
