EUGENE -- The score may not reflect it, but Barlow's performance at the inaugural Nike Track Nationals was deemed a success by its coach. 

"This was just amazing," Barlow coach Dave Kilian said. "Our kids came out and did a great job." 

The Bruins finished with 6,456.88 points, good for 11th in the 12-team field. The meet pitted the nation's 12 top boys and girls teams against one another in 10 events using a decathlon-style scoring system. Athletes from each team had a two-event maximum. 

California's Vista Murrieta won the boys competition with 7,797.18 points while Chandler High School (Ariz.) won the girls competition with 7,721.65 points.
